Bow

Want to go a little bigger? With its magnificently sweeping loops, this bow makes quite a statement. It is not for minimalists — it is made for a grand impression without much effort. The wider the ribbon, the larger the loops can be. Give it a try!

Instructions

You will need:

  • approx. 120 cm of decorative ribbon
  • approx. 50 cm of tie ribbon (matching the decorative ribbon)
  • adhesive tape (Sellotape)

Tying the bow:

  1. Before you start tying the bow, prepare a strip of adhesive tape about 5 cm long.
  2. Only then begin tying.
  3. Form one end of the long ribbon into a circle and hold the join firmly in place.
  4. Lay the remaining ribbon alternately to the right and left of the circle into loops, pressing each one down with your left index finger.
  5. You should end up with four loops in total — the lower two slightly larger than the upper two. The bow is now almost finished.
  6. Tip: Lightly tapping the edges on a table can help you adjust the shape of the loops.
  7. Secure the bow with the strip of adhesive tape.
  8. Thread it through the central circle, wrap it once around all the loops crosswise, and press it firmly into place.
  9. The bow can no longer come apart. If the ribbon is a little too long, simply trim off the excess.
  10. To attach the bow to the gift, take another piece of adhesive tape. Roll it with the sticky side facing outward and use it to fix the underside of the bow to the desired spot.
  11. Thread the tie ribbon through the central circle and around the package. You can then simply secure it on the underside — adhesive tape works well here too.
  12. Any excess length can be trimmed off here as well.

Good luck — enjoy making it!
