Curling Ribbon Splitting

Curling ribbons can be split perfectly into lots of fine strands of fringe. This colourful and unusual decoration is sure to delight children in particular. And it is so easy to make that the little ones can create it almost entirely on their own. So grab your splitter, get set, go!

Instructions

You will need:

• three curling ribbons in different colours
• scissors
• a ribbon splitter

Creating the decoration:

1. Ribbon fringe is already a striking decoration in its own right. For this gift decoration, you should therefore wrap each ribbon around the package just once.
2. Tie each of the three ribbons individually in a cross around the package.
3. Start on the top side each time and secure them there with a double knot at the crossing point.
4. Arrange them parallel to one another.
5. Tie each one on the top side with a double knot.
6. Tip: a ribbon splitter costs around 10 euros and can be found in stationery or craft shops.
7. Splitting the ribbon: place the splitter just after the knot, press it together, and draw it along the ribbon all the way to the end and beyond.
8. Split all six ribbon ends in this way.
9. By the way: already curled ribbons can also be split. You can arrange them in nests, for example. Just give it a try!
