The Classic

Two-Loop Bow

When people simply say “a bow”, this is what they mean: the two-loop bow. It is not only the most well-known of all bows, but also simply timeless in its beauty. We show you how to tie this classic perfectly for your gift!

Instructions

You will need:

  • approx. 50 cm of decorative ribbon
  • approx. 50 cm of tie ribbon (narrow)
  • pins

Tying the bow:

  1. Carefully fold the decorative ribbon in half so that both sides are equal in length.
  2. Cross the two halves over each other and form a loop.
  3. Press the loop from behind against the crossing point of the ribbons.
  4. Secure the resulting bow wings with a pin.
  5. To fix the two-loop bow permanently, you will need the tie ribbon.
  6. Thread it horizontally across the pin and tie it around the centre of the bow.
  7. Once you have made a double knot, remove the pin. Then gently adjust the bow into shape.
  8. If you want to attach the bow directly to a gift, first tie the ribbon around the package and make a double knot. Then form the basic two-loop bow shape as described above, pin it in place, and tie it directly onto the gift with a double knot. Give the bow a final adjustment and do not forget to remove the pin.

By the way: a two-loop bow is not just for packages — it also looks great on envelopes and bottles.
