Going Curly

Christmas Curling Ribbon Nest

Admittedly, curling ribbons tend to bring to mind colourful spirals and children’s birthday parties. A reason to forget about them? Absolutely not! This ribbon look is simply timeless, and in a Christmas setting it takes on a surprisingly elegant feel.

Instructions

You will need:

  • curling ribbons approx. 60 cm long
  • scissors
  • decorative elements, e.g. stars for embellishment

Creating the decoration:

  1. Tie your curling ribbons around the neck of the bottle.
  2. Secure them with a double knot at the crossing point.
  3. Depending on your experience, you can cut the ribbons to length before or after tying. Make sure they are long enough so that the curls turn out nice and full!
  4. To curl the ribbons, place the outer edge of the scissors against the ribbon right at the knot, press the ribbon down with your thumb, and draw the scissors along it with light, smooth pressure. Tip: the harder you press, the tighter the curls. If the edge of your scissors is too rounded, you can very carefully try using the blade instead.
  5. To finish, add a few small decorative touches to the bottle — an elegant star, for example.
  6. With a little imagination, you can decorate a Christmas package in exactly the same way.

Have fun, and Merry Christmas!
