Pom-Pom Bow for the Christmas Tree

Anyone wanting to decorate their Christmas tree in a particularly festive way should reach for the pom-pom bow. Quick to make, it impresses above all with its glamorous look. At Christmas it works doubly well: pair it with a charming accessory and you have the perfect elegant eye-catcher!

Instructions

You will need:

  • approx. 120 cm of decorative ribbon
  • approx. 50 cm of tie ribbon (narrow)
  • pins for securing
  • sturdy scissors
  • decorative elements, e.g. cinnamon stars

Tying the bow:

  1. Begin by winding the decorative ribbon completely around your hand to create approximately six loops.
  2. Make sure the loops lie as neatly on top of one another as possible.
  3. Pinch them together at the centre, then fold them in half.
  4. Carefully cut off both corners along the fold edge.
  5. Unfold the two loop ends back out and secure the whole bundle at the centre with a pin.
  6. Place the bundle of loops across the laid-out tie ribbon. Make a firm first knot to tie it together, then remove the pin and tie a second firm knot.
  7. Begin pulling the individual loops apart and shaping them. Take your time and work carefully so that the pom-pom bow becomes full and even.
  8. If you wish, finish with a small decorative touch — a cinnamon star, for example. You can simply rest it on the bow or fix it in place with a small dot of glue.
  9. Attaching the bow to the tree is very simple. Place the pom-pom bow on the desired branch and tie the ribbon firmly around it.

A pom-pom bow like this also looks wonderful on an Advent wreath or other Christmas arrangement.

Be creative and incorporate other small decorative accessories into your pom-pom bow!
