Double Two-Loop Bow on a Christmas Gift

The double two-loop bow may have a mouthful of a name, but it is easy to make. At Christmas, it truly comes into its own combined with wintry accessories — small sprigs of pine or fir, for instance — and becomes a real eye-catcher. What makes this gift design particularly appealing is the wide creative scope offered by the many possible ribbon variations and combinations.

Instructions

You will need:

  • two pieces of decorative ribbon of different lengths (varying in width, length, colour and/or material as desired)
  • approx. 50 cm of tie ribbon (narrow)
  • pins for securing
  • decorative elements, e.g. stars, Christmas tree branches

Tying the bow:

  1. Start by placing your package on the laid-out tie ribbon. You decide how to position the gift — at what angle and at what height.
  2. Wrap the tie ribbon around the package and knot it on the top side.
  3. Fold the first piece of decorative ribbon in half so that both sides are equal in length.
  4. Cross the two halves over each other and form a loop. Gather it at the centre at the crossing point of the ribbons, then secure the resulting bow wings with a pin.
  5. To fix the bow to the gift, tie it in place using the tie ribbon. Remove the pin. You can then gently adjust the bow into shape.
  6. Now repeat the entire process with the second piece of decorative ribbon to form the basic two-loop bow shape once more.
  7. Pin it in place, then tie it onto the first bow and the gift using the tie ribbon. Again, do not forget to remove the pin.
  8. To finish, you can give your Christmas package an extra special touch. Sprigs of pine or fir work particularly well integrated into the gift wrapping.
  9. Simply slide the branches under the bow and the tie ribbon, then decorate the package further as you like — with small stars, for example.

Have fun decorating!
